2001 PSBA Hall of Fame Inductees

Darryl Bower entered the Pennsylvania State Bowling Association Hall of Fame for his contributions to the game of bowling. Although Darryl is well known for his work as a Bowling Proprietor and as a Bowler, he is being inducted for his outstanding bowling achievements. Darryl has been active in the sport for 39 years.

Darryl has 30 sanctioned 300, 1000+ - 700 series and 11 - 800 series. Darryl has bowled in 25 PSBA Tournaments and 24 ABC Tournaments. Locally, he has titles in the Harrisburg and Lebanon Bowling Association Tournaments. His PSBA titles include: Team Championships in 1980 and 1992, Doubles 1983 and 1992, Singles 1985 and All Events 1985. In the ABC Tournaments Team Championships in 1978, 1980 tied for 5th in Doubles with his brother Gary. Finished 9th in Team in 1999. Darryl has a career 204 average for 24 ABC Tournaments and a 205 Masters average.

In the Professional Bowlers Association, Darryl came in first in Atlanta 1983, Indianapolis 1985 and Orlando 1985. Darryl has a career 9 PBA Eastern Region Titles.

Bowling Honorariums: 1984, 1985 and 1986 PBA Eastern Region Player of the year. 1985 the Pat Patterson Award Winner, 1985 and 1986 Metropolitan Bowling Writers Association All Star Team, 1987 and 1988 held ABC Record for most 300's by brothers (Gary Bower). In 1988 elected into the Harrisburg B.A. Hall of Fame and 1991 elected by the PA Sports Hall of Fame - West Shore Chapter. 1992-1995 PBA Eastern Vice President and in 1999 selected as one of the top 50 Athletes of the 20th century by the Patriot News Writers. H. Ralph Fisher entered the Pennsylvania State Bowling Association Hall of Fame for his great contributions to the game of bowling.

Ralph has bowled in 32 PSBA Tournaments, 16 PSBA Seniors and 10 PSBA Mixed Tournaments. He has bowled in 11 ABC Tournaments. Ralph has been active in the sport for 44 years.

Locally, he has been on 4 League Championship Teams and was the part of the Doubles Handicap Champion in 1989 in his City Tournament. Ralph has served as a League President and Vice President each for 1 year. Has served as League Secretary­Treasurer for 25 years. Was a director for his Local Association for 34 years and has served as Assistant Secretary-Treasurer for the last 17 years. Served as Chairman for 3 of their City Tournaments. Was a charter member of the Mercer County Bowling Hall of Fame Board of Directors. Wrote the original By-Laws for the Hall of Fame and served as the Master of Ceremonies at the first banquet. Ralph was inducted into the Mercer County Hall of Fame in 1997.

Contributions to the PSBA, Ralph served as a Western Area Director for 7 years of which 2 years he was Chairman. Served on the following committees as a member or chairman - Personnel & Compensation, Tournament Procedures, Hall of Fame Board & Selection, Budget & Finance, Hall of Fame Election, Legislative, Tournament Site and Necrology. Served as Co-Chairman of 3 PSBA Championship Tournaments held in Mercer County in 1980, 1986 and 2000. Also was Co-Chairman for the PSBA Seniors Tournament in 1997. He was instrumental in helping to secure $6000.00 for the Prize Fund for the Championship Tournament held there in 2000. Ralph served as a Line Officer for 5 years and was our State President in 1995-1996.

Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania

Richard Jones entered the Pennsylvania State Bowling Association Hall of Fame for his out­standing contributions to the game of bowling.

Dick is also a Bowling Proprietor and has been active in the sport for 45 years. Dick has 3 sanctioned 300, 100+ - 700 series and 1 - 800 series. Has bowled a 298 and a 299 game with 816 being his high series.

In 1993 he bowled a perfect game at the ABC Tournament in Tulsa in the singles event.

Locally, Dick has won tournaments from the Philadelphia and the New Jersey area from Team Event, Singles, Doubles and All Events. In New Jersey Dick won the scratch Team in 1975, the Doubles in 1978 and the Singles in 1979. In Pennsylvania's State Tournaments he won the All Events in 1979 and in the Seniors Tournament has won the Scratch and the All Events Handicap Championship in 1996.

Dick has won several tournaments across the United States starting in 1969 with the Steve Eurist Classic in New York and the Showboat Senior Tournament in New Jersey in  1994.

In 1959 Dick was the Suburban High School Champion. (Upper Darby H. S.) And on November 15, 1985 was elected to the Greater Philadelphia Bowling Association Hall of Fame.

For his outstanding contributions to the game of bowling, it is indeed an honor to induct Richard "Dick" Jones into the Pennsylvania State Bowling Association Hall of Fame this evening.
