The Pennsylvania State Bowling
Association is honored to induct Raymond Nester into the Hall of Fame
for his outstanding contributions to our Association and the game of
bowling.
Ray is very active on the state and
local level in our sport. He first attended the PSBA Convention as a
delegate in 1970 and has been active ever since. He was elected as an
Eastern Area Director in 1982 and served nine years. He was elected 4th
Vice President in 1989 and moved through the chairs to become PSBA
President in 1993. He served as President's Party Chairman for 7 years
(1982 to 1989) and has served on almost every committee at one time or
another. As President of the PSBA he had the distinction of appointing
a committee to review and set up guidelines for establishing a
scholarship program for the PSBA. After three years of study and hard
work, the program was adopted and the first scholarships were presented
at the 1997 Convention. On the local level, he has served the Allentown
District B.A. for many years, as its President and now as a member of
its Advisory Board. He is a member of the Allentown District B.A. Hall

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
It is an honor that the Pennsylvania
State Bowling Association Hall of Fame induct posthumously, Albert J.
Snite for his great contributions to the game of bowling.
Al was the first to propose
computerizing the state tournament, providing programming guidance and
systems information working with the late Robert Woods in the
establishment of a system prior to the A.B.C. programs. He was asked to
revise the entire PSBA manual. As Chairman of the Manual Study
Committee, he and his committee members rewrote the entire bylaws and
manuals and put it into the from which is still used today. At the
request of then President Nester, he chaired the Scholarship Committee,
administering the organization of the group and guiding it to
completion, culminating with the first scholarships being awarded in
1997. On the local level, Al served the Greater Philadelphia
Association in many capacities, including President. He was a delegate
to the A.B.C. Convention for 20 years. On February 4, 1999, Al passed
away and will be sorely missed by our Association and his many friends
in the sport of bowling. |
