PHILIP "BUDDY" TIERNO

Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania

Philip "Buddy" Tierno entered the Pennsylvania State Bowling Association Hall of Fame for his outstanding ability on the lanes.

He was and still is one of the top bowlers in South Eastern Pennsylvania. Buddy has bowled competitively for over thirty years. His top performances came in the 60's and 70's when lane conditions were more demanding. He has managed a composite 200+ average over these years. As a result of his achievements, he has been elected into the Greater Philadelphia Bowling Association Hall of Fame and also the Lower Bucks County Bowling Association Hall of Fame.

His championships are so many that it would be impossible to list all of them. These championships were rolled in many Eastern Pennsylvania cities and South Jersey. Buddy was a member of the powerful "Food Fair" team of Philadelphia which were perennial champions in leagues, tournaments and challenge matches. He finished second in the Quaker State P.B.A. tournament in 1965. He has two 300 games to his credit, along with over three hundred 700 series and one 800 series.

Buddy has always been interested in teaching younger people the fine art of bowling. So it was this interest which gave him the idea to hold an annual "National Collegiate Invitational Tournament, which he also served as the tournament director. This tournament attracts teams from all parts of the country.
