1991 PSBA Hall of Fame Inductees

Lewistown, Pennsylvania
Fred Gutshall entered the Pennsylvania
State Bowling Association Hall of Fame for his dedicated service to the
game of bowling.
Fred has served the Seven Mountains
Bowling Association as its secretary for 48 consecutive years. He was
instrumental in securing and working the State Championship Tournament
hosted by his local association in 1966 and the State Seniors
Tournament in 1978. Since the Seven Mountains association is
celebrating its 50th year, Fred published a 50th Anniversary History
book. He is the guiding force for a very successful local association.
On the state level, he served as a Central Area Director for eight (8)
years and served on many state committees. He introduced computing to
the PSBA an d was one of the pioneers in getting the tournament to be
run on the computer.
On the lanes, Fred holds a high average
of 187, a high single of 280 and high series of 660. He was the 1959
all events champion in the Altoona Penn Classic Tournament and has
several local association championships to his credit. He was the first
man inducted into the Seven Mountains Bowling Hall of Fame.

Red Lion, Pennsylvania
Donald Kauffman entered the Pennsylvania
State Bowling Association Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievements
in bowling.
Don started as a pin boy in the 40's, a
full time employee of bowling in the 50's, and in the 60's became a
proprietor. Inthe7O's he built a new center and in the 80's was part
owner of four other centers. The winner of 85 singles tournaments, Don
has six (6) State titles to his credit, three of which are scratch team
championships in 1977,1978 and 1988. He also captured the scratch
singles title in the 1974 PSBA tournament with a score of 774, which
still stands as the all_time high series in that event. He was the top
money winner in the Eastern United States Bowling Association, a
semipro organization that operated from 1963 to 1968. This group was
comprised of many well known bowlers, including PSBA Hall of Famers
Stoudt, Spada, Mazzanti and Ostrowski. Don has bowled in 26 PSBA
tournaments and 27 ABC tournaments. He has rolled all events scores of
1800 or better in at least 25 of these tournaments. He has rolled two
(2) sanctioned 300 games and has over 300, 700 series. Although now 64
years old, he continues to carry an average in excess of 200 in his
league efforts in York County.

Bradford, Pennsylvania
Though Bruce Therminy is one of the top
bowlers in the Bradford area, he entered into the Pennsylvania State
Bowling Association Hall of Fame for his meritorious service to the
game of bowling.
Bruce has been a top administrator on
the local, state and national levels. In the Bradford Bowling
Association, he served as its President from 1978 to 1981. He also
served as President of the Bradford Junior Bowling Association from
1966 to 1975. On the state level, Bruce served as a Western Area
Director for five (5) years before being elected 4th Vice President in
1981, progressing through the chairs to become PSBA President for the
1985-1986 season. He has chaired many state committees, including the
special 50th Anniversary Book Committee. He was instrumental in
starting the tournament patch program. On the national level, Bruce was
elected as an A.B.C. Director in 1985 and still serves in that
capacity.
As a bowler, he has rolled two (2) 299
games and has twenty two (22) 700 series, highest being 747. He
finished 8th in the 1969 ABC tournament with an All Event total of
1944. His Zippo team finished in 11th place in the 1966 ABC tournament.
He has many Bradford Association Championships. He has bowled in the
PSBA tournaments and 19 ABC tournaments.
