1989 PSBA Hall of Fame Inductees

York, Pennsylvania
George Bell entered the Pennsylvania State Bowling
Association for his meritorious service to the game of bowling.
George attended the P.S.B.A. Conventions for over 30
years. He served as P.S.B.A. President during the 1963-1964 season. He
served on almost every committee during his time with our organization.
George remained very active until his death in 1979. George wrote many
articles on bowling for the York area newspapers and even published his
own Bowling Newsletter. For these accomplishments, he was elected
President of the Bowlers Writers Association of America. He served the
York County B.A. as its Secretary for 36 years. He was the 41st living
member inducted into the York Co. B.A. Hall of Fame. He was a charter
member of the York County 700 Club, Chapter 27. As a bowler, George
participated in 34 P.S.B.A. tournaments and 37 consecutive A.B.C.
Tournaments. His highest league average was 194 and his high single
game was a 289 rolled at the age of 70.

Erie, Pennsylvania
Buddy Malone entered the Pennsylvania State Bowling
Association Hall of Fame as one of the Northwestern Pennsylvania area
better bowlers.
Buddy has demonstrated his ability on the National,
State and Local levels. In A.B.C. competition, he has to his credit a
second place finish in doubles in 1959 and third place finish in team
all event. He has averaged 189+ for over 35 years of ABC participation.
On the State level, he has participated in over 25 State tournaments,
leading his team to the Team Championship in 1973 with a 754 series and
shooting 1912 All Events that year. He holds many Erie District B.A.
titles, including 7 team championships, 6 doubles titles and 2 All
Event crowns. He has also won the Jamestown, New York singles
championship in 1969 and the Buffalo, New York singles title in 1975.
He has 5 300 games to his credit along with two 800 series. He had the
honor of being the first bowler inducted into the Erie District B.A.
Hall of Fame and is the only bowler ever inducted into the Erie Chapter
of the Penna. State Sports Hall of Fame.

Allentown, Pennsylvania
Donald Markley entered the Pennsylvania
State Bowling Association Hall of Fame for his meritorious service to
the game of bowling.
Don has been on the scene at the P.S.B.A.
conventions since 1954 when he attended as a delegate from Allentown.
He was elected Secretary of the Allentown District Bowling Association
in 1954, holding that position for 25 years, resigning after being
elected P.S.B.A. Secretary in 1979 to succeed the late "Diss" Dissinger.
While serving as A.D. B.A. Secretary, he was the State Tournament Host
Association Manager in 1965 and again in 1979 when Allentown hosted the
record 2022 team tournament. He was a charter member of the A.D.B.A.
Hall of Fame being inducted in 1971. He had the honor of being the
first Advisory Board Life Member of the A.D.B.A.
On the state level he served three terms
as Eastern Area Director. He represented the P. S. B.A. at two A. B.C.
Conventions. Since becoming P.S.B.A. Secretary, he has attended almost
every Committee meeting held and has represented our Association at
many local Association functions.
As a bowler, Don has participated in 35
consecutive State Tournaments and 9 State Senior Tournaments. He has
competed in the last 8 A.B.C. Tournaments. He won the Scratch Division
of the prestigious Times Invitational Tournament in Allentown with a
666 three game series. This past season he carried a 194 average with a
high single of 279 and high series of 690.
