Franklin, Pennsylvania
John Hricsina entered the Pennsylvania State Bowling
Association Hall of Fame because of his outstanding achievements in the
game of bowling.
John is one of Western Pennsylvania's top average
bowlers, finishing this season with a 223 average for 93 games the
highest ever recorded in the, Venango County Bowling Association. He
has rolled eight (8) sanctioned 3 games, one (1) 299, and two (2) 298
games. He has two (2) sanctioned 800 series, the highest being an 810
in 1979. Of his eight 300's the first was bowled in 1975 and the last
two were bowled this year. Also, the eight 300's have been bowled in
seven different bowling centers. On the national level, he has compiled
a 193+ average in the last 13 ABC Tournaments. He has made the finals
of the prestigious ABC Masters several times, his best finish being 7th
place in Tampa. He has been a member of the P.B.A. since 1981, and
while bowling mainly in regional tournaments, he has bowled in 14
national PBA tournaments and has cashed in 11 of them. His list of
tournament championships is much too long to note here, but all Western
Pennsylvania bowlers know of his accomplishments in tournaments in
their area as well as the Ohio area.

Sharon, Pennsylvania
Mr. George Kovack entered the Pennsylvania State
Bowling Association, for his outstanding bowling ability.
George had bowled for over 60 years, starting as pin
boy. He carried a 200+ average for most of those years, his highest
being a 222 average in 1953. Cookie has bowled against the best in the
country. In 1952 in the New York Singles tournament held in James town,
N.Y., he finished in 3rd place, Dick Weber and Don Carter finished in
1st and 2nd. He has bowled two (2) sanctioned 300 games and many others
in unsanctioned match play. He was the 1963 P.S.B.A. Singles Champion
with a 740 series and also the 1963 P.S.B.A . All Events Champion with
a nine game total of 2024. He has many other tournament championships
to his credit, mostly in the Mercer County and Youngstown Ohio area.
Cookie was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone asking for
assistance.

Bradford, Pennsylvania
Bob Thompson entered the Pennsylvania State Bowling
Association for his meritorious service to the game of bowling.
Bob has been on the scene of the P.S.B.A. for over 40
years. During this time, he has served or chaired practically every
standing committee. He has been a delegate, an Area Director and after
being elected 4th Vice President in 1970, he proceeded through the
chairs to ultimately become P.S.B.A. President in 1974-1975. He has
continued to attend and be an active member of the Advisory Board at
all P.S.B.A. functions since his tenure as President. He served as
Tournament Manager when his Bradford Bowling Association hosted the
1961 State Tournament. He has been and still is an active member of the
Bradford Bowling Association, being elected as a life member and
serving on their advisory board. In 1964, Bob organized bowling for
mentally retarded and physically handicapped children, making sure all
participants were fully equipped with balls and shoes. Bob, along with
his pal Bruce Therminy, is Co-Chairman of the 50th Anniversary Book
Committee, the result being the outstanding book you have received this
evening. |
