North Braddock, Pennsylvania
Dan Glus entered the Pennsylvania State Bowling
Association Hall of Fame because of his outstanding bowling
achievements.
Dan has been successful on all levels of competition,
local, state, national, and international. As a member of the United
States F.I.Q. team which competed in Guatamala City in 1966, he won
three medals. He received a gold medal for a 1st place finish in the 8
man Team Event, a silver medal for a 2nd place finish in the 5 man Team
Event (He was the top U.S. scorer), and a bronze medal for leading the
2 man Doubles Team to a third place finish. He finished in fifth place
in All Events in this most competitive international competition. On
the national scene, he has competed in 17 A.B.C. tournaments. He rolled
a 617 to help the G and C McDermitts Team to the A.B.C. Team Champion
ship in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1965. This was the first team from
Pennsylvania to ever win the A.B.C. Team Championship. Dan has competed
in over 20 P.S.B.A. tournaments and although he has never won a
championship, he has consistently cashed high in the prize lists. On
the local level, Dan's accomplishments are too numerous to mention,
both in the Greater Pittsburgh Area and in such prestigious tournaments
such as the Peterson Classic. He has one sanctioned 300 game to his
credit, over 40 700 series (high of 776) and carries a lifetime average
of 200 plus.
Although Dan is being inducted for his bowling ability,
he has been active in the administrative end of the game as well. He
served as President of the Greater Pittsburgh Ten Pin Bowling
Association and has attended the PSBA Convention as a delegate. He also
served on the P.S.B.A. Junior Committee and is most active in Junior
Bowling in the Pittsburgh area.

Yeadon, Pennsylvania
When LeRoy Gollatz passed away in 1983, the
Pennsylvania State Bowling Association lost one of its fine elder
statesmen. LeRoy F. Gollatz entered into the Pennsylvania State Bowling
Association Hall of Fame for his service to the game of bowling.
LeRoy was active in the P.S.B.A. till the time of his
death, attending Board of Directors meetings and State Conventions
regularly as an Advisory Board Past President. He served on many
committees prior to and after his term of President. He was elected 4th
Vice President in 1949, ascending through the chairs to become elected
P.S.B.A. President for the 1953-1954 term. LeRoy will always be
remembered as an active and faithful servant of the Pennsylvania State
Bowling Association. LeRoy was instrumental in reorganizing the Greater
Philadelphia Bowling Association in 1936. He was elected President of
this Association in 1944 and held this post for thirty five years. He
helped organize many leagues in the Philadelphia area and served as
officers in many of the league in which he participated.
In his younger days, Leroy was a pretty fair bowler,
with a high series of 696 and a high single game of 290. An avid
tournament bowler, he participated in 34 national A.B.C. tournaments
and 37 P.S.B.A. state tournaments.

Erie, Pennsylvania.
Bob Lyons entered the Pennsylvania State Bowling
Association Hall of Fame for his meritorious service to the game of
bowling.
He has been a top administrator on the local, state and
national level. On the local level, Bob was elected secretary of the
Erie District Bowling Association in 1952 and served until 1965. He was
appointed to the same position in 1971 and served in that capacity
until retirement in 1984. He was part of four State tournaments held in
Erie since 1946 and was Tournament Manager of the latest held in 1982.
On the State scene, Bob was elected as a Director in 1946 and served in
that capacity until elected 4th Vice President in 1963, proceeding
through the chairs to become State President in 1966-1967 season. Since
becoming a life member of the P.S.B.A., Bob has served on all
committees in the book and was the Parliamentarian for the PSBA
convention, a post he filled for many years. He was the proposer and
Chairman of the first President's Dinner. He also encouraged the local
Associations to constitute the custom of honoring the incoming State
President with a Testimonial Dinner at the local level.
In 1957 the American Bowling Congress saw fit to elect
Bob to the national Board of Directors, a post he held until 1978 when
he was elected a Life Member of the Board. While on the national board
he spent 18 years on the ABC Rules Committee which was instrumental in
bringing the A.B.C and the W.I.B.C. together in their rules and
philosophy. Also, he was chairman of the ABC President's Party held at
the Miami Convention and also of the Organizational Study Committee as
well as working on several other committees.
Back in Erie, his formation of the Blind Bowlers
Association of Erie is one of his proudest accomplishments. For several
years in the 50's he chaired the Western Pennsylvania March of Dimes
Tournament and was the Chairman of the Heart Fund tourney. In the mid
50's, he was the commentator and major-domo of the only live television
bowling program in Northwest Pennsylvania |
