Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania
Harry Zoeller comes to the Hall of
Fame with solid credentials including an ABC Championship. In 1955 he
was ABC Doubles Champion and in 1954 his 714 series was good enough for
third place in the singles prize list. On the State level, 1941 was a
big year for Harry; he not only was a member of the Stegmaier Beer
championship team but he himself won the All-Events toga with a 1958
total. Additionally in 1943 he won the Pennsauken tournament and
finished third in the Union City, New Jersey event. Harry has shown his
ability to last the distance with his 190 average in 26 ABC tournaments
and his lifetime average for 42 years of bowling of 200 plus. Now that
he is retired Harry spends his time keeping sharp on the lanes and
watching all sports on TV.

McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania
John Brannan comes to the Hall of Fame
as one of the outstanding administrators and
promoters of the game of ten pins in the State of Pennsylvania. Along
with Eddie Jefferson, Andy Nicholas, Joe Appel and Harry Gumpert, John
helped in the formation of the Pennsylvania State Bowling Association
in 1939 and has been a part of its growth ever since. In 1955-56 he
served as president of the Association and on several occasions
Brannan's Bowl has hosted the Annual Tournament. Since opening
Brannan's Bowl in 1940 John has been driving force in the proprietor
associations (local, state and national) and was the only man to ever
serve as secretary of the local, state and national BPAA groups at the
same time, this in 1965-66. On the state level he was a leader in the
fight to abolish the Blue Law which prohibited bowling on Sunday -this
allowed the rapid growth of the game in Pennsylvania. At the local
level he was instrumental in organizing the Metropolitan League in
Pittsburgh which at its height consisted of 180 teams in 18 divisions
and he still serves on the Rules Committee of the league. Another
project to which John points with pride is the Saturday bowling show on
WTAE-TV, Channel 4, Pittsburgh. For this show, which has been running
for 16 years, he secured and had installed two lanes in the studios of
WTAE. In addition, John is an avid promoter of tournaments both in his
own house and throughout the Pittsburgh area.
